Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised Delhi a “New spring of development” as he addressed a large crowd at an election rally in RK Puram on Sunday. He compared the upcoming change to the seasonal shift of Basant Panchami.
Modi greeted the crowd on Basant Panchami and Saraswati Puja, emphasizing that Delhi would experience a ‘Vikas ka Naya Basant’ after the Assembly elections on February 5. “Just as the weather changes with Basant Panchami, Delhi will see a new beginning. This time, the BJP government will form the next government in Delhi. The city is saying, ‘Abki Baar, Modi Sarkar,'” he said, as the crowd chanted in agreement.

The Prime Minister criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for what he termed a wasted 11 years of governance. “The AAPda party has ruined Delhi. Give us a chance to serve you,” he urged. He promised that a double-engine BJP government would improve the lives of Delhi’s citizens, from the poor to the middle class.
Modi slammed the AAP leadership, saying, “You’ve given India a strong government. Now, don’t let the destructive AAP government return.” He also mocked the party’s symbol, saying, “The broom is falling apart even before the elections. Leaders are quitting because they know the public is angry.”
The Prime Minister sharply contrasted the AAP’s empty promises with the BJP’s guarantees. “The BJP delivers what it promises. Our budget is proof of our commitment to the people,” he said.
He praised the Union Budget for focusing on key sectors like the poor, farmers, youth, and women. “India is now the world’s fifth-largest economy. We’re using this growth for the welfare of the people,” Modi said.
Highlighting benefits for the middle class, Modi stressed that under the new tax regime, earnings up to Rs 12 lakh per year are tax-free, a significant relief compared to previous governments. “In the past, a middle-class family would dread the budget. Today, they’re happy with the changes,” he added.
The Prime Minister also promised senior citizens increased pensions and reduced taxes. He said that once the BJP forms the government in Delhi, they would introduce a pension of Rs 2,500 for senior citizens and offer free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh.
Modi shared a personal moment when a young girl handed him a sketch. He promised to write her a letter, adding a heartfelt touch to his campaign speech.
