“Grateful For Mahadev’s Blessing”: Foreign Devotees Celebrate Maha Kumbh Mela

Devotees and tourists worldwide are arriving in Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh Mela, expressing gratitude for the rare opportunity.

As thousands of devotees and tourists continue to arrive in Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh Mela, visitors from around the world are expressing their gratitude for the rare opportunity to take part in the grand festival.

Elena from Kazakhstan shared her excitement with ANI, stating, “We have come to the Kumbh Mela because it was our dream and we are so thankful for India. I’m thankful for Mahadev that he gave me this chance to be here today. It’s very nice for me.”

Yelena, a visitor from Moscow, Russia, also spoke to ANI, saying she enjoyed the experience with her friends and described Prayagraj as a ‘beautiful place’.

Another tourist noted, “We are here in this very beautiful place as a group and have a wonderful feeling. We are very grateful to India for such a nice festival, for such nice people. India is the best country for me.”

Valeria, from Moscow, expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “It’s amazing. We made a long trip here. We will stay for two days, and we appreciate so much for this opportunity to see this amazing festival. Thank you so much. It has taken for us a long way to come to our Father, Lord Shiva.”

A German tourist also praised the Maha Kumbh celebrations, calling them beautiful and adding, “I love india, it’s so good.”

The Maha Kumbh Mela, which takes place once every 12 years, is being held in Prayagraj from 13 January to 26 February 2025.

Pilgrims traditionally gather at the Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the now-extinct Saraswati rivers, to take a holy dip, believed to absolve sins and grant moksha (liberation).

The festival, which began on 13 January, will continue until 26 February.

Key bathing dates during the Maha Kumbh include:

  • 3 February (Basant Panchami—Third Shahi Snan),
  • 12 February (Maghi Purnima), and
  • 26 February (Maha Shivaratri)
