Poll Affidavit: Kejriwal Faces 14 Criminal Cases; Owns Rs 3.46 Lakh Worth Movable Assets, Immovable Properties Valued At Rs 1.7 Crore

Arvind Kejriwal, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Chief Minister disclosed 14 criminal cases against him in his affidavit for the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections. These include a case from the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Amethi and allegations related to irregularities in Delhi’s Excise Policy.

In 2020, Kejriwal had declared 13 pending criminal cases in his election affidavit.

Kejriwal reported Rs 40,000 in cash, while his wife, Sunita, declared Rs 32,000. His movable assets total Rs 3.46 lakh, and Sunita’s amount to Rs 1 crore. Kejriwal owns immovable assets worth Rs 1.7 crore, and Sunita holds Rs 1.5 crore.

In 2020, Kejriwal’s movable assets stood at Rs 9.95 lakh, and Sunita’s were Rs 57 lakh. Their immovable assets were valued at Rs 1.77 crore and Rs 1 crore, respectively.

Sunita owns jewellery worth Rs 25.9 lakh, including 320 grams of gold. She also owns a house in Gurugram. The couple has no liabilities.

For 2023-24, Kejriwal earned Rs 7.21 lakh from his legislative salary, while Sunita’s pension income was Rs 14.1 lakh. Sunita drives a 2017 Maruti Baleno, as Kejriwal does not own a car or house.

Kejriwal is contesting from the New Delhi constituency, facing Parvesh Verma (BJP) and Sandeep Dikshit (Congress). While Kejriwal and Verma filed their nominations on Wednesday, Dikshit is expected to file his on Thursday.
