Patna Police registered an FIR against 25 Purnea MP Pappu Yadav supporters for vandalism during the ‘Bihar Bandh’ on Sunday. The protesters damaged a truck’s windscreen and assaulted the driver.
The FIR was filed at Pirbahore police station. The station house officer (SHO) confirmed the action based on a complaint from the vehicle owner. “We are identifying others using CCTV and video footage,” the SHO stated.
Protesters disrupted traffic at Ashok Rajpath, Dak Bungalow Crossing, and near Patna Science College. They burned tires, blocked roads, and forced shopkeepers to close their businesses.
About 150 supporters marched from Ashok Rajpath to Dak Bungalow Chowk via Kargil Chowk without permission. The procession caused major traffic jams and inconvenience to the public.
Bandh Called Over BPSC Exam Irregularities
Pappu Yadav called the ‘Bihar Bandh’ to support Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) candidates. They alleged irregularities in the December 13, 2024, exam in Patna.
Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh promised strict action against the protestors. Police booked them under charges of disrupting traffic, damaging property, and organizing unauthorized processions.
Yadav was not present during the incidents. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the remaining culprits. Authorities have restored traffic in most areas.
