Preparations Underway For Maha Kumbh 2025 At Sangam Bank

Ahead of Maha Kumbh 2025, authorities are making extensive preparations at the Sangam bank in Prayagraj, where bathing ghats have been constructed along a 12-km stretch. The preparations are in full swing, with particular focus on lighting, infrastructure, and safety measures, as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath prepares to visit the site.

In anticipation of the event, lighting arrangements are being installed across all the ghats. The stairs leading to the ghats are being reinforced with a combination of straw, brass, and soil packed in sacks to ensure safety and stability. Additionally, dedicated changing rooms for women have been set up at every ghat to maintain privacy and comfort for female devotees.

Deputy Fair Officer Abhinav Pathak provided updates on the ongoing work: “The cleaning and construction of ghats are progressing swiftly. Major ghats in the Sangam area have been newly developed, and efforts to enhance cleaning, construction, and security have been expedited in preparation for the Chief Minister’s arrival.”

Key Developments On The Major Ghats

Seven concrete ghats have been constructed along the banks of the Ganga and Yamuna at the Sangam. These ghats have been designed to accommodate the large number of bathers and devotees expected during the Maha Kumbh.

  • Dashaswamedh Ghat (Ganga River): Spanning 110 meters in length and 95 meters in width, this ghat will feature a sitting plaza, changing cabins, parking, yagya shala, aarti sthal, and a meditation center.
  • Kila Ghat (Yamuna River): Located near the Sangam, this 60-meter long and 70-meter wide ghat is designed to handle the heavy crowd expected during the event.
  • Saraswati Ghat (Yamuna River): This ghat, measuring 30 meters in length and 60 meters in width, will cater to both bathing and other activities.
  • Mori Ghat (Yamuna River): Also 30 meters long and 60 meters wide, this ghat is located near the main ghat area.
  • Kali Ghat (Ganga River): Situated near the cremation ground, this 30-meter long and 60-meter wide ghat will provide additional space for devotees.
  • Chhatnag Ghat (Ganga River): Located on the left bank of the Ganga, this ghat is 30 meters long and 60 meters wide.
  • Maheva Ghat (Yamuna River): Situated near the Bhairav temple, this 30-meter long and 60-meter wide ghat will also serve as a significant spot for bathing.

Enhanced Security And Cleanliness Measures

Given the expected massive crowd, authorities are implementing exceptional security measures and cleanliness arrangements at all ghats.

  • Women’s Safety: Separate changing rooms for women and girls have been set up at every ghat to ensure their safety and privacy.
  • Ghats Identification: To help devotees easily identify the ghats, distinct insignia, including symbols like the Damaaru and Trishul, are being installed at each location.
  • Watch Towers and Barricades: Watch towers are being set up to monitor the Sangam area, with water barricades being arranged across all ghats to regulate crowd movement.
  • Boat Safety: All boats operating on the river are undergoing safety checks. Their capacity and license number will be clearly displayed to ensure safe transport for devotees.
  • Water Police Alert: The water police will be on full alert to ensure safe bathing and prevent any untoward incidents during the Mahakumbh.

With these extensive preparations, authorities are committed to providing a secure, clean, and well-managed environment for the millions of devotees expected to converge at the Sangam bank for Maha Kumbh 2025.
