Jhansi NICU Fire: Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak has taken strict action after the NICU fire at Maharani Laxmibai Medical College, Jhansi, killed ten infants. He removed the college principal and initiated action against several staff members based on a four-member committee’s investigation report.
Principal Removed; Staff Punished
The government acted swiftly after the tragic incident. Deputy CM Pathak removed Principal Dr. Narendra Singh Sengar and attached him to the Directorate General of Medical Education. He chargesheeted Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Sachin Mahur.
Officials suspended include Junior Engineer Sanjeet Kumar, Nursing Sister In-Charge Sandhya Rai, and Chief Superintendent Dr Sunita Rathore. All three also received chargesheets for negligence.
Further Investigations Ordered
The Divisional Commissioner of Jhansi will investigate three senior officials: Dr Om Shankar Chaurasia, Head of Pediatrics; Dr Kuldeep Chandel, Associate Professor of Surgery; and the Electricity Incharge Officer. All three have been chargesheeted for their roles.

The fire broke out in the NICU ward on November 15, killing ten infants. Deputy CM Pathak visited the site immediately and met the families of the victims. He assured them of justice and action against those responsible.
He directed the Principal Secretary of Medical Education to form a four-member investigation committee. After reviewing its findings, he acted against the culprits involved in the incident.
