To ensure a safe and secure Maha Kumbh, the Uttar Pradesh Fire Department has ramped up its awareness campaigns with a focus on fire prevention and safety.
With millions of devotees likely to attend the grand spiritual gathering, the department has issued comprehensive safety guidelines and launched an intensive outreach campaign to educate attendees about fire risks.
The department uses animated videos and easy-to-understand fire safety tips, sharing them widely on social media platforms.
These videos feature colorful characters and straightforward messaging, making fire safety accessible to people from all walks of life.
Pramod Sharma, Prayagraj’s Chief Fire Officer and Maha Kumbh Nodal Officer, emphasized that the department’s approach is centered around the theme – ‘Bachaav Hi Humara Kartavya Hai’ (Prevention is our duty).
He added that each piece of content promotes the tagline – ‘Apki Samajhdari Hai Suraksha Apki Aur Humari’ (Your awareness ensures your safety and ours), aiming to instill a sense of responsibility among attendees.
The Fire Department’s goal is clear – to ensure the event remains incident-free and that devotees can also perform their spiritual rituals without safety concerns.
As part of this effort, the authorities however encourage the public to report any fire-related emergencies by calling the dedicated emergency numbers 100 or 1920.
Key Safety Guidelines For Maha Kumbh
No Open Flames Near Tents Or Pavilions:
One of the key messages in the campaign is the danger of leaving bonfires or open flames unattended near tents. Fire officials are strictly prohibiting the use of open flames, stoves, or fire pits inside or near pavilions and tents.
Proper Use Of Electrical Appliances:
The Fire Department is also highlighting the importance of safe electrical practices. Through animated characters like Chhota Bheem, the videos teach viewers how to avoid using damaged electrical wires or overloading devices, which can lead to fire hazards. They also emphasize the need to give priority to fire brigade vehicles during an emergency.
Avoid Flammable Substances:
Another animated video illustrates how spilled ghee during a ritual caused a fire, urging devotees to refrain from using flammable materials like petrol, diesel, or candles near worship areas. The message is clear: safety should always come first.
Mock Drills For Rescue Operations:
To ensure quick and effective action in case of an emergency, the Fire Department has been conducting mock rescue drills. These drills are however designed to prepare fire-fighting teams and other personnel to handle any unforeseen incidents that may arise during the Maha Kumbh.
With these proactive safety measures in place, the Uttar Pradesh Fire Department is working tirelessly to make the Maha Kumbh a safe and spiritual experience for all devotees.
