Director Praveen Arora’s award-winning film Dhai Akhar will release in theatres nationwide on November 22. Based on the novel Tirthatan Ke Baad by renowned Hindi writer Amrik Singh Deep, the film explores a woman’s journey to reclaim her identity amidst societal challenges.
The story follows Harshita, a widow who endured domestic violence for years. Her bond with Shridhar, a famous writer, blossoms through letters. However, society’s male-dominated norms reject their relationship. The film asks whether Harshita can overcome these barriers and find solace in love.
Stellar Cast and Creative Team
Acclaimed actress Mrinal Kulkarni plays Harshita, while actors Harish Khanna and Rohit Kokate hold pivotal roles. Writer Asghar Wajahat penned the screenplay and dialogues. Lyricist Irshad Kamil, music director Anupam Roy, and singer Kavita Seth contribute to the film’s soulful music.
The movie was shot at scenic locations in Uttarakhand. Produced under the banners of Kabir Communications, Aakriti Productions, and SK Jain Jamai, the film had its world premiere at IFFI Goa, receiving critical and audience acclaim.
Accolades and Upcoming Release
Dhai Akhar earned the Special Jury Award at the Cambodia International Film Festival 2024. It was also screened at the Chennai International Film Festival and Dehradun International Film Festival. The film has been selected for the Tashkent International Film Festival 2024.
Presented by JP Agarwal, Dhai Akhar brings a classic love story to the big screen, blending emotion and artistry. It promises to captivate audiences when it releases on November 22.
