Patna HC Orders RLJP To Vacate 1 Wheeler Road Bungalow By November 13

The Patna High Court has directed the Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) to vacate the government bungalow at 1 Wheeler Road by November 13. The order follows an eviction notice issued by Bihar’s Building Construction Department, which originally set the vacate deadline for October 30.

The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), led by the late Ram Vilas Paswan, had the initial allotment of the Bungalow in 2006. After a 2021 split in the party, RLJP leader Pashupati Kumar Paras claimed the residence, citing support from five MPs for his faction.

However, recent political shifts, especially around the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, have intensified the dispute over party legitimacy and assets.

RLJP’s state Vice President, Ambika Prasad, sought a stay on the eviction, but the petition was withdrawn after a weak presentation by Senior Advocate Y.V. Giri. Representing the state, Solicitor General PK Shahi argued that RLJP lacked legal rights to the property. Justice Mohit Kumar Shah upheld the eviction order, allowing RLJP to request a new bungalow from the department if needed.

Meanwhile, in recent developments, the BJP backed Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas (LJPRV) faction, which secured five seats in the Lok Sabha. As an alliance partner in the Modi government, LJPRV also saw Chirag Paswan appointed as a Union Minister, further establishing his faction’s political standing over RLJP.
