Ayodhya Gears Up For Record-Breaking Deepotsav

Ayodhya is all set for a grand Deepotsav celebration, aiming to set a world record by lighting 2.5 million diyas across the city. Final preparations are complete, with diyas delivered to all 55 ghats along the sacred ‘Ram Ki Paidi.’ Volunteers have begun arranging them in intricate patterns, creating a stunning visual across each ghat.

Organizers plan to place rows of diyas in 16×16 grids, totaling 256 diyas per block. Over 30,000 volunteers from Awadh University and 36 affiliated colleges, alongside local non-profit organizations, are working to position 2.8 million diyas on Ram Ki Paidi, with hopes of lighting at least 2.5 million for the record-breaking display.

This year marks the first Deepavali celebrated with Lord Ram seated in the newly consecrated Ram Temple, heightening the festival’s spiritual significance. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has promised to make this Deepotsav an extraordinary tribute, reminiscent of Lord Ram’s homecoming in Treta Yuga.

Local Ayodhya resident Harshit Kumar expressed his excitement: “For three years, I’ve helped light diyas. This year, our group is decorating four ghats with around 60,000 diyas. I’m grateful to CM Yogi for making this event so beautiful, and it’s an honor to participate.”

First-time participant Aditya, a student volunteer, added, “We arrived early this morning. Being part of this Deepotsav is thrilling—it’s a special experience to light diyas here.”

Alongside the diyas, Ayodhya will further host a stunning drone show on Diwali, adding another layer to this increasingly global celebration of devotion and grandeur.
