On Thursday, ahead of his swearing-in as the new Chief Minister of Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini paid a visit to the Valmiki Temple, marking the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti.
Saini reiterated his commitment to keeping his doors open for the common people. He further assured that anyone could approach him with their concerns at any time.
Addressing the media after offering prayers at the temple, Saini shared that earlier in the morning, he had already met with nearly 150 people at his residence.
Saini stated, “This morning, I met nearly 150 people at my residence before coming to the temple,” emphasizing his ongoing dedication to staying connected with the public.
Known for his down-to-earth style, Saini, a low-profile leader from the Other Backward Class (OBC) community, has maintained a reputation for being approachable.
Since assuming the leadership of Haryana in March, he has kept his home open to the public, earning the moniker “Saini mera banda hai” (Saini is my man, I know him) from his supporters.
When asked about his earlier campaign promise to provide traditional ‘charpais’ (cots) at his official residence in Chandigarh for visitors, Saini humorously confirmed that he had already fulfilled the promise.
Nayab Singh Saini Journey So Far
Nayab Singh Saini was appointed in March to replace Manohar Lal Khattar as Chief Minister, in a move aimed at countering anti-incumbency sentiments.
Despite being relatively new to the role, Saini claimed to have accomplished significant progress during his brief tenure.
“In 56 days, I have taken 126 historic decisions for Haryana’s development,” Saini asserted during his election campaign, contrasting his efforts with the decade-long tenure of Congress leader Bhupinder Hooda.
Saini’s political journey began nearly 30 years ago, and he rose through the ranks of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He was first elected as an MLA from Naraingarh in 2014 and later appointed to the Cabinet in 2016.
Now, as he prepares to officially take office as Chief Minister, his leadership is seen as an important step in addressing both development and inclusivity in the state.
Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya will preside over the oath-taking ceremony, where Saini and his Council of Ministers, likely numbering around 10, will formally sworn in.
Several key political figures, including seven-time legislator Anil Vij and prominent Dalit leader Krishan Lal Panwar, have received invitations to join the new cabinet.
The inclusion of other notable leaders such as Rao Narbir, Aarti Rao, Krishan Bedi, Vipul Goel, and Ranbir Gangwa signals a broad-based approach to governance.
The swearing-in ceremony is likely to be a significant political event, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and BJP President JP Nadda among the attendees.
Additionally, all 20 BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Chief Ministers and their deputies will be present, making it a major gathering ahead of key Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.
