Congress social media in-charge Supriya Shrinate announced on Tuesday that the party is set to secure a majority in the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Assembly elections. Speaking to IANS, Shrinate said the results reflect a strong rejection of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP by the people of J&K. “J&K has taught a big lesson to the BJP,” Shrinate added, emphasizing the Congress’ expected victory and formation of the government with a significant mandate.
Haryana Outcome Still Unclear
While expressing confidence about J&K, Shrinate noted uncertainty in Haryana. “The picture will change in Haryana as the data is moving slowly,” she said, adding that the Congress is not receiving the majority it had anticipated. Shrinate remains hopeful, saying the party will learn from the election results in Haryana.
BJP Leads in Haryana, Tight Race Continues
As vote counting continues, the BJP is leading in 49 seats in Haryana, while Congress is ahead in 35. The two parties have been in a close contest since the count began. Meanwhile, the Congress-National Conference alliance is expected to form the government in J&K. Independents and smaller parties, seen by some as BJP allies, have struggled to make a significant impact.
