The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad will celebrate its 19th Convocation on October 5 at 3 PM in the main auditorium, where 673 students will receive their degrees.
Kiran Deshpande, Co-Founder of Mojo Networks and former CEO of Tech Mahindra, will serve as the Chief Guest, while Professor Anil Sahasrabudhe, a distinguished academic and administrator, will be the Guest of Honour.
During a press conference, IIIT-A Director Prof. Mukul Sharad Sutaone shared details of the event, including the awarding of 22 medals to merit scholars alongside the degrees. He praised Mr. Deshpande as a seasoned leader with over 40 years of experience in corporate leadership and entrepreneurship, highlighting his role as a TiE Global Trustee since 2022, where he has significantly impacted global mentoring initiatives.

Professor Sahasrabudhe, who has held key leadership roles, including Director of the College of Engineering Pune and Chairman of AICTE, has implemented transformative reforms in technical education. His contributions include the creation of India’s first MOOC platform, SWAYAM, and pioneering examination reforms. He currently chairs several prestigious organizations, including the National Educational Technology Forum (NETF).
The convocation will award degrees to 432 undergraduate students, 195 postgraduate students, and several dual-degree candidates, along with 30 research scholars receiving their PhDs. Notably, 150 women will graduate this year.
Among the honors, Inder Sonu will receive the Chairman’s Gold Medal for his overall academic excellence. Medals will also be awarded in various categories, including B.Tech and MBA, with special recognition for students achieving top marks.
Since its establishment in 1999, IIIT Allahabad has excelled in IT and related sciences, with graduates expected to uphold the institute’s esteemed reputation.
