The Delhi government has officially launched the ‘Green War Room’ as part of its efforts to tackle pollution in the capital. Environment Minister Gopal Rai announced that the initiative will be operational starting Monday.
In a statement, Rai explained that the Green War Room is a key component of a 21-point Winter Action Plan aimed at reducing pollution levels during the winter months. Located in the Delhi Secretariat, the War Room will coordinate with all 33 government departments and analyze relevant data. A team of eight environmental experts has been assigned to this task.

The Green War Room has been assigned seven specific tasks. Notably, a new initiative this year is “rone monitoring,” which will involve tracking and analyzing pollution data. Additionally, the team will monitor pollution hotspots throughout Delhi.
Rai emphasized that the War Room will also assess data from monitoring stations to track PM10 and PM2.5 levels in the air. “We will receive regular updates on the Air Quality Index (AQI),” he said.
Furthermore, the Green Delhi App will be activated from the Green War Room. Rai encouraged Delhi residents to download the app, available for both Android and iPhone users. He urged citizens to report any pollution-inducing activities by taking photos and uploading them to the app, thus enabling collective action against pollution.
Looking ahead, Rai mentioned plans for a meeting with the Union Environment Minister regarding artificial rain. He expressed hope for a prompt response, which would facilitate better preparations.
The launch of the Green War Room marks a proactive step by the Delhi government in addressing the persistent issue of air pollution in the city.
