The Himachal Pradesh government has issued a directive mandating all street vendors and food establishments to prominently display the names of owners, proprietors, and staff members. The move aims to improve cleanliness and hygiene standards across food outlets in the state.
Following Uttar Pradesh’s Lead
Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh announced the decision, mirroring the recent mandate by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A day earlier, UP had ordered eateries to display owners’ names and install CCTV cameras. Himachal’s government aims to ensure public access to clean food by enforcing similar rules.
Food Safety Rules Tightened
Street food vendors in Himachal will now be required to display their names and identification. Complaints about food quality will be strictly dealt with, according to Singh. He also mentioned the possibility of introducing reservations for locals, Dalit communities, and the disabled in issuing new food vendor licenses.
Singh shared the decision on social media, reinforcing the government’s commitment to food safety and transparency.
