External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has actively engaged in discussions with multiple foreign ministers during the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, focusing on enhancing bilateral ties and addressing regional issues.

On Tuesday, EAM Jaishankar met with Spain’s Foreign Affairs Minister, José Manuel Albares, where they had a “good conversation” about bilateral cooperation and the situations in Ukraine and West Asia. Following their meeting, Jaishankar expressed his satisfaction on social media, noting the productive dialogue.

Jaishankar also held discussions with Bolivia’s Foreign Minister Celinda Sosa Lunda, emphasizing the importance of advancing cooperation between their nations. He shared his thoughts on their meeting via social media, highlighting his optimism for future collaboration.

Additionally, during a meeting with Moldova’s Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi, the two officials explored potential cooperation in investment, education, and tourism, while also addressing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The EAM’s discussions extended to Cyprus, where he met Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos. Their conversation centered on the developments in West Asia and the implications for regional stability, alongside a commitment to enhancing bilateral relations.

Jaishankar also met with EU Commissioner for Climate Action Wopke Hoekstra, commending his efforts in strengthening the India-EU partnership. He expressed appreciation for the collaborative initiatives that have emerged from their discussions.

Earlier in the week, the EAM participated in a meeting with counterparts from the G4 nations—Germany, Japan, and Brazil—and also engaged with France’s new Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barro and Bangladeshi Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain, further enriching India’s diplomatic outreach during this high-profile gathering.
