The Assam BJP is gearing up to intensify its membership drive next week, with a target to enroll over 40 lakh new members. The party has already made significant progress, surpassing 25 lakh members as of Tuesday, according to state BJP president Bhabesh Kalita. This milestone is part of the party’s larger goal to include 60 lakh people in the state.

The membership drive, which began digitally, will continue until September 25. Afterwards, the party will shift to an offline membership system. Special emphasis is being given to young generations, aged 18-25, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma urging block-level workers to prioritize their enrollment.

Regional Response

The membership drive has received excellent responses from various regions, including:

– Barak Valley region: Strong response
– Kamrup district: Encouraging participation
– Upper Assam area: Notable interest

Party’s Focus on Youth

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the importance of enrolling youths, stating, “Our party does not fight college or university elections… but there is no bar in making them members of our party.” He encouraged block-level workers to focus on including youths, who can “take forward our mission for this country in future.”

The Assam BJP’s membership drive is expected to continue gaining momentum, with the party aiming to achieve its ambitious target of 40 lakh new members.
