CBI Delves Into Former Principal’s Phone Records In RG Kar Doctor’s Rape-Murder Case

The CBI is intensifying its probe into the RG Kar doctor’s rape and murder by examining former principal Dr. Sandip Ghosh’s phone records.

Kolkata Rape-Murder Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is intensifying its probe into the rape and murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College & Hospital by scrutinizing the mobile phone records of former principal Dr. Sandip Ghosh.

Investigators focus on calls made or received by Ghosh on the morning of 9 August, when they discovered the victim’s body in the seminar room. They are aiming to determine if Ghosh communicated any critical information or issued instructions regarding the incident.

The CBI has already conducted a polygraph test on Ghosh and is now seeking court approval to administer the same test to Anup Halder, an assistant sub-inspector of Kolkata Police and a close associate of Sanjay Roy, the accused in the case.

Preliminary interrogations suggest that junior doctors, medical students, and some hospital staff highly regarded the victim. However, she encountered opposition from some senior colleagues, many of whom supported Ghosh.

This has led to suspicions that her murder might be linked to her uncovering sensitive information about the hospital.

In addition to the murder investigation, the CBI is also examining financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College during Ghosh’s tenure.

Investigators are exploring potential connections between the financial misconduct and the brutal crime, aiming to uncover any underlying motives.

The dual investigations underscore the complexity of the case and the CBI’s determination to unravel the full scope of the circumstances surrounding the doctor’s tragic death.
