Prayagraj: The Unified Pension Scheme is to be implemented from April 1, 2025. In such a situation, the railway has started counting the benefits of this scheme. Since the railway unions are agitating the most for the restoration of the old pension, the railway has started explaining its benefits. Talking to media persons, DRM Himanshu Badoni explained the benefits of this scheme.
DRM Himanshu Badoni said that the Government of India has come up with a Unified Pension Scheme. The Unified Pension Scheme has come which will be implemented from 01.04.2025. There are many important parts of this entire pension scheme. In this, pension has been made mandatory.
It has been stipulated in the scheme that 50% of the basic salary of the last 12 months of the employee plus DA will be determined and given to him as pension. Provided the employee has completed 25 years of service. Employees who have completed 10 to 25 years of service will be given pension proportionately.
There will be provision for family pension which will be up to 60 percent. 60 percent of the pension has been determined as family pension. In this pension scheme, employees will definitely get a minimum amount. That will be that ten percent of their last basic salary will be added for every six months of service. In this scheme, whenever the DA increases, the employees will get the benefit of pension in the form of salary.
In this the assured minimum pension on retirement after a minimum service of 10 years will be Rs.10,000 per month. The employee or his/her family member will also get the benefit of inflation index on assured pension, assured family pension and assured minimum pension.
Principal Chief Personnel Officer, North Central Railway Prayagraj Division Anurag Tripathi also spoke on every aspect of the scheme in the press conference. He said that this is a very commendable scheme of the Government of India.
The government has come up with a Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) which will benefit the employees. The Principal Chief Personnel Officer said that the railway employees will have the option of availing the benefits of either the New Pension Scheme or the Unified Pension Scheme. If they want to avail the benefits of any scheme, they will be given the option for this.
It is known that a total of 69110 Railways employees and officers are working in North Central Railway, out of which 55587 employees are under NPS (New Pension Scheme) and 13523 are under OPS (Old Pension Scheme). Apart from this, there are 6335 employees who are not in service due to various reasons like retirement, VRS or death. Thus, a total of 61922 employees and officers in North Central Railway are under NPS (New Pension Scheme). They will be given the right to choose UPS (Integrated Pension Scheme) or NPS (New Pension Scheme).
In all total of 27518 Railways employees and officers of Prayagraj division are under NPS (New Pension Scheme). Out of which a total of 26000 working and 1518 (retired, VRS and death) employees and officers are under NPS (New Pension Scheme).
Chief Public Relations Officer, Shri Shashikant Tripathi, Additional Divisional Railway Manager/General, Shri Sanjay Singh and Senior Divisional Personnel Officer , Shri Manish Kumar Khare were also present on the occasion.
