A devastating attack on the Kursk region by Ukrainian forces has resulted in the death of twelve civilians and injured 121 others, according to Acting Governor Alexei Smirnov.

During a video conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, Smirnov reported that approximately 180,000 residents are now facing evacuation orders, with around 120,000 individuals already having fled their homes.

The Acting Governor also revealed that 28 settlements within the region are currently under Ukrainian control. Authorities are unable to account for the safety of the 2,000 residents living in these areas. The situation remains fluid as efforts to assess and address the crisis continue.
