Supreme Court To Hear Manish Sisodia's Bail Plea

The Supreme Court will deliver its verdict on Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia’s bail plea on August 9. Sisodia has been jailed for several months in connection with Delhi’s excise policy case.

Sisodia Questions Prolonged Detention

During a recent hearing, Sisodia’s lawyer, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, argued that his client has been in jail for 17 months, despite the complexity and scale of the cases against him. The corruption and money laundering charges brought by the CBI and ED involve 493 witnesses and 69,000 pages of documents.

Sisodia questioned the necessity of his continued detention, asking, “What is the purpose of keeping me in jail?” His legal team emphasized that this is a significant issue of personal freedom. The Supreme Court’s decision tomorrow will determine whether Sisodia will be granted bail.
