The ongoing unrest has caused widespread destruction, with vandals looting and damaging the homes and businesses of Awami League leaders and activists. Multiple cities report incidents of arson.

Eyewitnesses recounted that an angry mob set fire to the house of former councillor Md Shah Alam in Ashoktala.

The fire resulted in the deaths of six people, including five teenagers. Their bodies were recovered between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
