The Libyan Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned a deadly attack carried out by the al-Shabab extremist group on a beachside hotel in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation expressed Libya’s firm condemnation of the terrorist attack, which resulted in numerous casualties. “The State of Libya strongly denounces the attack that targeted a hotel in Mogadishu, killing at least 35 people and injuring 126 others,” the statement read.

The ministry condemned the acts as crimes against humanity, emphasizing Libya’s resolute rejection of violence and terrorism in all forms. It stressed that such actions violate international laws and humanitarian and moral values.

The attack, which occurred on Friday night, involved a suicide bombing and a gun assault. The al-Shabab group has claimed responsibility for the attack through their official radio.
