Etah: The roof of a house collapsed late Thursday night in Jaithra police station area of the district. Six people from the same family were buried under the debris. The police and administration team reached the spot after receiving information, rescued the people buried under the debris, and took them to the hospital. Doctors declared the grandmother and granddaughter dead. They referred the other injured family members to the medical college.
SSP Shyam Narayan Singh said on Friday that Ramgopal, who lives in the village Kookpura of Jaithra police station area, lives with his elderly mother and family. Due to its age, the roof of the house collapsed late at night. During this time, the roof buried six family members.
The police reached the spot and conducted a rescue operation with the help of the villagers as soon as they received the information. Police and local people rescued six people buried under the debris and took them to the hospital, where doctors declared elderly Heshayari Devi and a girl Anshika dead. The deceased were grandmother and granddaughter. They referred three other people in critical condition to the medical college for treatment. Authorities sent the dead bodies for post-mortem and are taking further action.
The SSP said the roof might have collapsed due to the old house and heavy rain in the district a day earlier. District Magistrate Prem Ranjan Singh reached the spot after receiving information about the accident and checked on the injured admitted in the hospital. He stated that the injured in the roof collapse incident are receiving better treatment. Authorities are also providing all possible assistance to the victim’s family.
