Swapnil Kusale shoots bronze, India's 3rd medal at the Games
Swapnil Kusale delivered a sensational performance to secure a bronze medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions men’s shooting final on Day 6 of the Paris Olympics. His achievement elevated India’s medal tally to three. Earlier, Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh had earned a team shooting bronze, with Bhaker also clinching a third-place finish in an individual event.
However, it was a disappointing day for India in the 20km race walk final, where Akshdeep, Vikash, and Paramjeet struggled. The women’s race walk final is yet to take place, with Priyanka Goswami representing India. In badminton, a thrilling clash is expected between HS Prannoy and Lakshya Sen in the men’s singles round of 16, pitting two Indian players against each other. Additionally, the Indian men’s hockey team will face Belgium in their Pool B match.
Swapnil Kusale clinches bronze for India
In shooting, the day had mixed results for Indian athletes. Swapnil Kusale, despite finishing seventh in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions qualification, advanced to the final and ultimately secured a bronze. However, star shooter Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar fell short, finishing 11th in the qualification and missing out on the final. In the women’s trap qualification, Shreyasi Singh and Rajeshwari Kumari ended Day 2 in 23rd and 22nd places, respectively. In boxing, Lovlina Borgohain and Nishant Dev both won their round of 16 bouts, progressing to the quarterfinals. Archery saw a comeback for Deepika Kumari, who advanced to the round of 16 after winning her individual round of 32 match. Unfortunately, Tarundeep Rai did not have the same fortune and was eliminated from the men’s individual event.
