“I have dedicated my entire life to the community and the nation,” said Afzal Amanullah. He has worked in various capacities with the Bihar government, the Indian government, and in Saudi Arabia. During this time, all his decisions were for the benefit of the country and the community, positively impacting a large population. Regardless of his position, he always met with people from all walks of life and resolved their issues. This is why everyone who knows him holds him in high regard.
Afzal Amanullah, a candidate for the presidency of the India Islamic Cultural Centre (IICC) and a former Secretary of the Government of India, expressed these thoughts while addressing IICC members. Speaking at a gathering of IICC life members held at the Metro Sapphire Banquet Hall, Nishatganj, in Lucknow, he stated that there has been no positive or creative work at the IICC for a long time. There is a need for good and honest individuals to come forward and propel this center forward.
Introducing his team, Mr. Amanullah said he had ended the tradition of panels. Instead, he has formed a team of educated, qualified individuals who understand the pain of the community and the nation.
Dr. M. Rahmatullah, a senior journalist and visiting professor contesting for the Board of Trustees, stated, “If the flow of water stops, it becomes harmful. The development of the IICC has been stagnant for a long time, turning the center into a white elephant. There is a need to hand over the leadership of this center to someone with honest and dynamic thinking.” Dr. Rahmatullah mentioned that the Muslim community is looking at this election with hopeful eyes.
Badruddin Khan, a candidate for vice president, said that during his brief tenure as Secretary when he tried to advance the center, not only did the president and other committee members oppose him, but they also terminated his primary membership. He mentioned that those who have been running the center for 15-20 years have been eating away at the IICC like termites.

He provided detailed information about Mr. Amanullah’s promises and intentions for the center and appealed for the team to be elected with a significant majority.
Dr. Masroor Qureshi, contesting for the Executive Committee from the Mumbai chapter, said there is a need for civil services coaching at the center, which Afzal Sahib’s team will implement immediately. Dr. Masroor Qureshi, former Deputy CEO of the Haj Committee of India, emphasized the necessity of opening branches of the center in the capitals of major states.
