Prayagraj: Thirty Projects worth about Rs 120 crore have been approved in the meeting of the apex committee (Apex Committee) of the government constituted by the state government for the successful organization of Maha Kumbh 2025.
The major project approved included small streams of Ganga that will be blocked during Maha Kumbh using Assam’s technology Bamboo Pinning, so that there will be sufficient water in the mainstream and the land of small streams can be used for settlement.
For this, Prayagraj Mela Authority and the Indian Inland Waterways Authority will establish coordination and work will be done on this technology.
Presiding over the meeting Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh said that Maha Kumbh-2025 should be clean and green. The toilets installed in the fair area should be clean. A third-party inspection should be conducted to ensure that the toilets are being cleaned daily or not.
He said that the devotees coming to the fair area should not face any kind of inconvenience in commuting. Better security and traffic arrangements should be made by making a plan. DGP Prashant Kumar, Principal Secretary Urban Development Amrit Abhijat, Principal Secretary Tourism Mukesh Meshram, Principal Secretary Public Works Ajay Chauhan, Principal Secretary Medical Education Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma, Kumbh Mela Officer Vijay Kiran Anand, PDA Vice President Arvind Kumar Chauhan, Information Director Shishir were also present in the meeting. ADG Bhanu Bhaskar, Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, Police Commissioner Tarun Gaba, CDO Gaurav Kumar, Municipal Commissioner Chandramohan Garg remained connected online.

Two projects worth Rs 26 crore have been approved for Motilal Nehru Medical College. Under this, renovation and beautification work of the medical college and associated hospitals will be done at a cost of Rs 22.47 crore to provide better medical facilities to the devotees coming to Maha Kumbh. Under the health plan of the medical college, medical consumables will be purchased for Rs 3.36 crore.
Nineteen projects of the Health Department worth Rs 58 crore have been approved. In this, one 100-bed and 10 temporary hospitals of 20 beds will be built in the fair area at a cost of Rs 14.25 crore. Apart from this, the Health Department will upgrade CHCs and PHCs in Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, and Kaushambi located on the routes of Maha Kumbh at a cost of Rs 21.24 crore. Warehouse Teliarganj will be constructed near the fair.
To provide better facilities to the domestic and foreign tourists and VIP guests visiting the Maha Kumbh, the Tourism Department will set up a tent colony of 55 premium camps in the Parade Ground at a cost of Rs 3.51 crore. The work of road widening, strengthening, and beautification from the IERT culvert to the Ganga river bank will be done by Prayagraj Development Authority at a cost of Rs 7.89 crore.
Similarly Horticulture Department will beautify the fair area by growing seasonal flowers and ornamental plants in clay and fiber pots in the fair area at a cost of Rs 2 crore and the state parks at a cost of Rs 5 crore. Apart from this, the department will organize an exhibition for the promotion of horticultural technology and departmental schemes at a cost of Rs 60 lakh.
Pipes will be purchased by Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam (Urban) at a cost of Rs 51.13 crore for laying pipes across the entire fair area to supply clean drinking water to the devotees and tourists visiting the Maha Kumbh.
