Mamata Visit

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is planning to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during her upcoming three-day visit to Delhi, starting Thursday.

Sources indicate that the Chief Minister’s office has sent an official request for an appointment to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The primary agenda for the proposed meeting is to address the issue of pending central dues to West Bengal under various centrally-sponsored schemes.

Chief Minister Banerjee highlighted that the Centre owes the state Rs 1.75 lakh crore, a concern she reiterated while commenting on the Union Budget proposals for 2024-25 on Tuesday.

Banerjee’s schedule includes attending the Niti Aayog Governing Council meeting on June 27, which the Prime Minister will chair.

The meeting however will include Chief Ministers from all states.

Mamata Banerjee To Strategize With TMC MPs During Delhi Visit

During her stay in the national capital, Banerjee is likely to convene with Trinamool Congress (TMC) representatives in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to strategize the party’s parliamentary approach in the coming sessions.

Speculation suggests that Banerjee may meet with leaders from the opposition INDIA bloc or Chief Ministers from non-BJP ruled states attending the Niti Aayog meeting, but no one has officially confirmed these engagements.

Banerjee’s visit underscores ongoing efforts to secure financial support from the central government and to strengthen her party’s position ahead of upcoming parliamentary sessions.
