The Congress leader described the situation as a “humanitarian crisis” and urged the House to take up an urgent discussion on the critical issue. His move comes after Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced special assistance for Assam’s flood management in her Budget speech, which was welcomed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The discussion is expected to focus on the Centre’s response to the crisis, the adequacy of the announced assistance, and the need for sustained support to mitigate the effects of recurring floods in Assam.
