Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a fierce attack on the Opposition coalition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) on Sunday, dubbing it the ‘Aurangzeb fan club.’ During his speech at the BJP’s state convention in Pune, Shah targeted Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, calling him the leader of this ‘club.’
Shah criticized the former Maharashtra Chief Minister for aligning with those who, according to Shah, served ‘biryani’ to 26/11 terror attack convict Ajmal Kasab. He further accused Thackeray of associating with individuals who sought clemency for Yakub Memon, convicted for the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.
“Who are part of the Aurangzeb fan club?” Shah questioned. “Those who serve biryani to Kasab, those who seek clemency for Yakub Memon, those who award (controversial Islamic preacher) Zakir Naik a messenger of peace award, and those who support the (banned Islamist outfit) PFI. Uddhav Thackeray should be ashamed of sitting with these people,” Shah asserted.
In his speech, Shah also targeted opposition stalwart and NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, describing him as the “head of corruption.”
“They want to win elections by spreading misconceptions. They talk about corruption, but the biggest leader of corruption in Indian politics is Sharad Pawar, and I have no doubt when I say this. Sharad Pawar institutionalized corruption in many governments of this country,” the senior BJP leader stated.

Amit Shah also took aim at Rahul Gandhi, claiming that the Congress leader’s arrogance would be defeated in the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Haryana, as the people of India had shown their support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the recent Lok Sabha polls.
Boosting the morale of BJP workers, Shah encouraged them not to be disheartened by the Lok Sabha election results in Maharashtra, where the party’s tally decreased from 23 in 2019 to nine in 2024. He emphasized that they could rebound in the upcoming Assembly polls by promoting the government’s achievements and welfare schemes.
“Every BJP worker from Maharashtra has contributed to the party’s victory. The BJP-led alliance will perform better in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly polls than it did in 2019 and 2014. We will work harder and set new goals for ourselves. The saffron must rise again in Maharashtra,” Shah declared.
