Pawan Khera, Chairman of the Media & Publicity Department of the Congress party, took aim at the BJP on Monday, accusing the ruling party of ‘instigating’ animosity against Congress and engaging in ‘cheap politics’ concerning the security of political leaders.

In a post on social media platform X, Khera asserted, “Cheap politics should not be played on the issue of security of leaders,” emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.

Khera pointed to the historical attacks on prominent leaders, stating, “The Congress party lost Mahatma ji to Right Wing terrorists. We lost two Prime Ministers at the hands of terrorists. We lost our entire Chattisgarh leadership to Left Wing terrorists, under the watch of the BJP govt.”

He accused the BJP of disseminating ‘vitriolic lies’ about former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, as well as the Gandhi family.

“Prime Minister Modi and the entire BJP has been instigating people against the leadership of the Congress party by spreading vitriolic lies against Nehru ji, Indira ji and the entire family. He also mysteriously withdrew their SPG security,” Khera alleged.

This statement however follows comments made by BJP IT head Amit Malviya, who, on Sunday, accused Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, of endorsing violence against Modi.

In response to Rahul Gandhi’s condemnation of the attack on former US President Trump, Malviya criticized him for his past actions regarding security.

“Third-time fail Rahul Gandhi has frequently justified violence against Prime Minister Modi,” Malviya stated, recalling an incident where the Punjab Police, under Congress, allegedly compromised Modi’s security during his convoy’s travel.
