Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) Secretary S Krishnan on Sunday said that India has talent and experience to become global player in the semiconductor Industry. Semiconductor Industry is an important sector for India.
Krishnan was speaking at a conference by fabless semiconductor firm iVP Semiconductor. He said that the government is helping the industry to create the ecosystem to build semiconductors.

He emphasized the efforts of government to creative supportive environment for the semiconductor industry to grow.
The Secretary also mentioned that iVP Semiconductors plays an important role in creating demand to fill up the manufacturing capacity in the wafer fab.
“I would like to congratulate iVP Semiconductor on the creation of an Indian fabless chip company,” he said.
According to the global management consulting firm McKinsey, the semiconductor industry is likely to become a trillion-dollar industry globally. However, the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) estimated the sector to reach $100 billion by 2030.
According to a recent estimate by TeamLease Degree Apprenticeship, the nation would need between 2.5 and 3 lakh skilled workers. The fields of sophisticated packaging, design, manufacturing, and research and development (R&D) is likely to demand workforce by 2027.
as per the paper, by 2025–2026, the expansion is expected to create about one million employment worldwide, which would be consistent with India’s larger goals for industrial and economic growth.
