Kirodi Lal Meena, a prominent BJP leader in Rajasthan, reaffirmed his commitment to a pre-election promise by resigning from his ministerial post on Thursday.

Meena, aged 72, stated that he had pledged to step down if he failed to secure victory for his party in any of the seven Lok Sabha seats assigned to him in eastern Rajasthan.

Speaking after a meeting with BJP National President JP Nadda in New Delhi on Friday, Meena clarified his decision, emphasizing that it was a matter of moral responsibility.

“The people of the region where I have served for 40-45 years did not support me. I cannot tolerate this, so I chose to resign,” he explained.

During the meeting, Meena presented his resignation to Nadda and discussed the circumstances leading to his decision.

He disclosed that Nadda has invited him for another meeting in Delhi after 10 days.

Responding to speculation about lobbying for his brother’s candidacy from Dausa, Meena dismissed the claims outright.

“This is incorrect. I will work wherever the party sends me. There are upcoming by-elections in ST majority areas, and I am committed to ensuring victory for our candidates there,” he affirmed.

Meena, a prominent figure in Rajasthan’s tribal politics, also expressed no animosity towards anyone within the BJP organization or the Chief Minister.

The resignation marks a significant move in Rajasthan’s political landscape, reflecting Meena’s adherence to his electoral commitments and his dedication to serving the people of the state.
