In a significant address during the reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address in the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unequivocally prioritized the ‘fight against poverty’ as the cornerstone of his government’s agenda for its third term within the NDA alliance.
PM Modi articulated a comprehensive roadmap aimed at alleviating poverty, underscoring it as the primary objective over the next five years.
He expressed profound concern over persistent deprivation faced by certain sections of society, even decades after Independence, and vowed to bring about transformative change.
“A determined and decisive fight will happen in the next five years for the betterment of the poor and downtrodden, aimed at uplifting their living standards,” PM Modi affirmed.
Highlighting the urgency of addressing these challenges, PM Modi portrayed previous efforts as preliminary, describing them as an ‘appetizer’ in comparison to the substantial progress yet to come.
He emphasized that the upcoming phase of development would mark a significant departure, promising tangible improvements in the lives of millions.
PM Modi also addressed specific initiatives targeting marginalized groups.
He underscored efforts to simplify the lives of persons with disabilities (Divyangs) and ensure their dignified integration into society.
Additionally, he highlighted legislative measures and inclusion policies benefiting the transgender community, including their recognition in prestigious national awards.
The Prime Minister detailed several targeted welfare schemes, including a notable 13,000 crore project for the Vishwakarma community focused on skill empowerment.
He also spotlighted the PM SVAnidhi scheme, which integrates street vendors and hawkers into the formal banking system, illustrating the government’s commitment to economic inclusion.
PM Modi identified Tier II and Tier III cities as critical engines of growth, signaling a strategic shift towards decentralized development.
