Hyundai Motors and LG Energy Solutions completed construction of EV battery plant in Indonesia in collaboration. On Wednesday, informing about jointly build plant with LGES, Hyundai Motors said that it has complete the construction, allowing the South Korean automotive giant a fully-integrated EV production system in the Southeast Asian nation.
In Karawang New Industry City, a manufacturing area in East Jakarta, the country of Southeast Asia, Hyundai Motor Group announced that it has completed the construction of the Hyundai LG Indonesia Green Power (HLI Green Power) battery factory, according to Yonhap news agency.
Using battery cells made by HLI Green Power, the group’s independent automobile manufacturing facility in Indonesia will start producing the KONA Electric EV in large quantities this month, according to Hyundai.

Hyundai Motor Group stated that it has created a local integrated production system in Indonesia, from EV battery cells to completed automobiles, since the establishment of HLI Green Power. This gives it a competitive edge in the Southeast Asian EV market outside of Indonesia.
HLI has started production since second quarter of this year, Hyundai informed.
A crowd of 300 dignitaries and guests from South Korea and Indonesia attended the completion ceremony.
The battery cells made here will be utilized in a variety of Hyundai and Kia models in different nations, in addition to EVs produced at Hyundai’s Indonesian plant.
After the Ioniq 5, Hyundai’s Indonesian factory is now producing the Kona Electric, the company’s second electric vehicle model. Hyundai believes the Indonesian EV market will increase significantly as a result of the Kona Electric.
