In the meantime, the authorities searched the Ram Kutir Charitable Trust in the Mainpuri district for “Bhole Baba,” who gave a religious speech in Hathras that resulted in a stampede that killed 116 people.

It was said that Saurabh Kumar, who was once known as Sakar Vishwa Hari Bhole Baba, was conducting the Satsang.

The godman had previously worked for the Uttar Pradesh Police’s Intelligence division.

He left his position after 17 years of employment to become a preacher and go on a spiritual quest. Frequently observed imparting lessons, he wears a white suit and tie.

He organises satsang programmes with his wife and is also known as ‘Sakar Vishwa Hari Baba of Patiali’.

While his following extends beyond Uttar Pradesh to Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, the preacher and his acolytes maintain a distance from the media and also the social media.

According to a devotee, Bhole Baba had no religious mentor. Soon after voluntary retirement from service, he had a ‘vision’ of the deity that encouraged him to spiritual pursuits.

He used to hold his satsangs every Tuesday. He held a similar event in Mainpuri district last week before Hathras.
