JP Nadda Replaces Piyush Goyal As The Leader Of Rajya Sabha

BJP leader JP Nadda has been appointed as the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha

Dynastic Politics

Union Health Minister and senior BJP leader JP Nadda has been appointed as the Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha today. In addition to this role, Mr Nadda will also manage the Chemicals and Fertilizers portfolio in the Cabinet.

Mr Nadda will replace Piyush Goyal as the Leader of the House. During Prime Minister Modi’s second term, Goyal served this position.

There was speculation that Nadda might step down as BJP National President, a role he assumed in 2020, succeeding the current Union Home Minister Amit Shah. However, it appears that Nadda will continue as the BJP’s top organizational leader.

According to BJP rules, party members elect a National President only after they complete organizational elections in 50 percent of all states, which they expect to take about six months. Therefore, they may elect a new president in December-January.
