PM Modi Inaugurates Nalanda University Campus In Rajgir, Bihar

The prime minister stated that he wants India to become a global hub for knowledge and education

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new campus of Nalanda University at Rajgir, Bihar. The University is conceived as a collaboration between India and East Asia Summit(EAS) countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the central government is aiming to make the country’s higher education system more modern and research-oriented. Modi urged students to remain curious and courageous as he inaugurated the new Nalanda University campus.

“Nalanda symbolizes India’s scholarly tradition and vibrant cultural exchange. It is not only a resurrection of India’s past, but the heritage of many countries is related to this location”, he explained.

PM Modi went on to say, “Our government is working towards making the country’s higher education system more advanced and research-oriented. I am confident that our youth will provide leadership to the entire world in the future”.

The prime minister stated that he wants India to become a global hub for knowledge and education.

“On an average, one university has come up in the country every week in the last 10 years”, PM Modi added.

Before inaugurating the new campus, the Prime Minister paid a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site ‘Nalanda Mahavihara’, which is near the university. The educational institute was founded through the Nalanda University Act in 2010, and it began operations in 2014.

The old Nalanda University, which has operated since the fifth century, drew students from all around the world. It thrived for 800 years until it was destroyed by invaders in the 12th century.
