Campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections is in full swing. With his third public meeting in Tamil Nadu’s Kongu region on Wednesday, PM Modi is leaving no stone unturned to strengthen the Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign in the state. After conducting a public meeting in Coimbatore’s Vellore, PM Modi took a swipe at the opposition bloc INDIA while holding another rally in the district’s Mettupalayam area. He stated that the INDIA alliance, formed to challenge BJP, is unaware of the party’s strength.
Additionally, he accused the ruling parties in the state, DMK and Congress, of intending to stay in power through deceit. “The INDIA alliance does not trust India’s strength. When the massive pandemic of Corona struck the world, the INDIA alliance claimed that India could not produce a vaccine. However, we promised to develop a made-in-India vaccine. In addition to fulfilling the promise, the made-in-India vaccine saved millions of lives by providing its doses for free,” the PM said.
Directly targeting the Congress party, the Prime Minister asserted that despite decades in power, they failed to eradicate poverty from the country. Highlighting that BJP appointed a tribal woman as the President of India for the first time, the PM said, “These dynastic parties believe that only their kin can hold high positions. However, BJP appointed a tribal woman as the President of India for the first time, despite strong opposition from the INDIA alliance.”

Criticizing the Congress further, the PM stated that the party “discriminated based on the ruling party” during its tenure. “During Congress rule, states faced discrimination based on the ruling party. However, the NDA government is committed to the vision of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’. We advocate for a developed Tamil Nadu for a developed India. Therefore, we have invested significant funds for Tamil Nadu’s development over the past decade,” the PM stated.
PM Modi also accused the Congress and the DMK of neglecting millions of people from SC-ST and OBC communities, leaving them in need of basic necessities like housing, water, and electricity. “For decades, the Congress-DMK INDIA alliance left millions of people from SC-ST, OBC communities longing for housing, water, and electricity under the belief that not everyone can have access to such amenities. However, the BJP government provided PM Awas to millions, electrified every village, and offered free rations to 80 crore needy individuals, a significant portion being from SC-ST, OBC communities,” he added.
Earlier in the day, the PM held a public rally in Vellore. All 39 seats in Tamil Nadu will vote in a single phase on April 19. The counting of votes will take place on June 4. In 2019, the DMK-led alliance swept the Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu, securing 38 out of the 39 seats.
