Tesla and SpaceX chief Elon Musk has fuelled speculation about entering the American political arena with a new party, possibly named ‘The America Party’.
Though no official announcement has been made, Musk’s cryptic social media posts have ignited intense public debate over the potential formation of a centrist political movement.
Using his platform X, Musk posted a poll asking whether the United States needs a new political party.
According to Musk, 80 per cent of respondents agreed.
“The people have spoken. A new political party is needed in America to represent the 80% in the middle! And exactly 80% of people agree. This is fate,” he declared in a follow-up post.

Soon after, a user suggested the name ‘America Party’, to which Musk responded enthusiastically, “The name America Party sounds great. The party that really represents America!” He later posted simply, ‘The America Party.’
The timing of Musk’s posts is noteworthy.
Once a close supporter of President Trump, having attended his inauguration, advised his administration, and campaigned on his behalf, Musk has now publicly distanced himself from the president.
Their relationship, once strategic and influential, appears to have deteriorated sharply.
From Ally To Critic
Musk recently stepped down from the position of DOGE department head and has since criticised Trump’s leadership.
In a striking remark, he posted, “Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House, and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate… Such ingratitude.”

President Trump, responding during a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the Oval Office, said, “Elon and I had a great relationship. I don’t know if we will anymore. I’m very disappointed in Elon. I’ve helped Elon a lot.”
Musk’s companies—SpaceX and Tesla—have received substantial government support over the years, including lucrative contracts.
Trump’s threat to revoke those contracts signals an escalating clash that could have financial and political consequences.
If Musk proceeds with the creation of ‘The America Party’, it could reshape the American political landscape by drawing support from disenchanted centrists.
As tensions mount, the billionaire’s next move is keenly awaited both in Washington and beyond.
