Abbas Ansari
The Supreme Court has granted bail to Abbas Ansari, the son of former politician Mukhtar Ansari, in connection with an arms license case. This decision follows an extended legal battle pursued by Abbas Ansari seeking relief from the court. The case has attracted significant attention due to the involvement of Mukhtar Ansari, a controversial figure in Indian politics.
Abbas Ansari had contested the order of the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court dated November 20, 2022. The High Court had denied bail to Abbas Ansari in a case related to possessing firearms under a license. The case was initiated with an FIR lodged on October 12, 2019, alleging that Ansari had purchased multiple firearms under the license, portraying himself as a renowned shooter.

It was alleged that Ansari had purportedly transferred the license issued in Lucknow to Delhi without informing the concerned police station. He continued to use both licenses issued in two different states under two different unique identification numbers.
Abbas Ansari gained prominence for contesting and winning on a ticket from the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) in the 2022 state assembly elections, representing the Sadar seat in Mau. At the time, SBSP was an alliance partner of the Samajwadi Party.
