Seat Sharing deal sealed for Delhi

After multiple rounds of discussions this week, the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have finalized their seat-sharing arrangement for the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi, according to sources on Thursday. Both party sources verified that they had agreed upon a four-three seat-sharing arrangement, wherein Congress would contest three constituencies and the AAP four.

AAP accepted the Congress’ offer

According to a top Congress official, the deal was sealed when the AAP accepted the Congress’ offer to run for both one of the parties’ recommended Lok Sabha seats and one of their own. “The formal announcement of the alliance — with the entire roster of seats which each one will contest — is likely to be announced on Friday,” the leader said. Regardless of which third seat it chose to challenge, the alliance was expected to win the East and North West Lok Sabha seats, according to sources close to the Congress party.

Congress to field its candidates from the East and North West Delhi

A senior Congress leader predicted that the party would run for the third seat from one of the parliamentary constituencies in West Delhi, Chandni Chowk, or New Delhi.
“We will assess the winnability of candidates proposed by both parties for the third seat; but it is mostly certain that the Congress will field its candidates from the East and North West Delhi Lok Sabha seats,” the Congress leader said. On Thursday, the parties resolved differences concerning seats in other states, particularly two Gujarati Lok Sabha seats that had become a barrier to their alliance in the state capital.
