ED Issues Tenth Summons to Hemant Soren, Mandates Appearance Between 29th and 31st

The Enforcement Directorate’s Ranchi regional office has issued the tenth summons to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren in connection with the land scam case. The Directorate, through a letter serving as the summons, has requested the Chief Minister’s presence for questioning between January 29 and 31. The letter further indicates that in the absence of a mutually agreed date, an interrogation is scheduled for January 30.

Chief Minister declined ninth summons

Following the earlier summonses, the Chief Minister communicated to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) through his emissary, expressing his inability to make himself available for questioning until March 31 due to numerous pressing commitments. The Chief Minister cited his busy schedule related to the party’s foundation day and the ongoing state budget preparations as reasons for his unavailability. In response to the repeated calls from the Directorate, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha issued a statement. The party’s Principal General Secretary, Supriyo Bhattacharya, criticized the ED’s actions as perplexing and questioned the need for another round of interrogation in the past 5-6 days. Bhattacharya affirmed that the party would respond to every letter and summons from the Directorate. Despite the party’s stance, the communication exchanged between the Chief Minister after the ninth summons and the subsequent ED response continues to be a topic of discussion in Jharkhand politics.
