Enforcement Directorate Calls Upon Arvind Kejriwal for Appearance on December 21

This is the second time he has been called by the agency for questioning in the case.

Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate on December 21 in relation to the case involving the liquor policy scandal. He has been called by the agency to be questioned about the issue twice now.

Kejriwal had been summoned by the CBI on November 2. However, he declined to appear before the Enforcement Directorate, citing previous commitments related to the assembly elections that have now finished.

According to Kejriwal’s party, the AAP, the agency intends to detain him in relation to the purported scheme. It has been conducting a campaign to find out what the residents of the nation’s capital think about whether he ought to step down as chief minister or go on leading the government while incarcerated.

Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, two of Kejriwal’s closest allies, have been detained for months on suspicion of money laundering related to the purported liquor policy scandal.

According to PTI, which cited officials, Kejriwal, the national convenor of the AAP, has been summoned to answer questions on the Delhi excise policy case and to record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has always denied the accusations that the Delhi government’s excise policy for 2021–22, which granted licenses to liquor dealers, encouraged cartelization and favored specific dealers who had reportedly paid bribes for it.

After the policy was abandoned, the lieutenant governor of Delhi suggested a CBI investigation, and the ED then filed a PMLA complaint.
