BJP Set To Unveil Rajasthan Chief Minister Today
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to announce the chief minister for Rajasthan following surprising decisions in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Newly elected MLAs are set to convene in Jaipur at 4 pm to select the legislative party leader. The spotlight is on whether the party will opt for the familiar face of two-time chief minister Vasundhara Raje or initiate a generational shift, as witnessed in other states.

The meeting, to be held at the party headquarters, will feature BJP’s central observer and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with co-observers National General Secretary Vinod Tawde and National Vice President Saroj Pandey. With 115 seats secured in the 200-member Assembly, the BJP faces the decision of leadership between Raje, Union ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Ashwini Vaishnaw, as well as other contenders like Diya Kumari, CP Joshi, and Kirodi Lal Meena.

Speculation arises that the BJP might choose a woman as the chief minister, aligning with their recent selection of leaders. Raje remains a frontrunner, supported by several MLAs visiting her ahead of the meeting. In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP opted for Mohan Yadav over Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while in Chhattisgarh, tribal leader Vishnu Deo Sai was chosen over three-term chief minister Raman Singh. These decisions reflect strategic considerations and preferences, underscoring the BJP’s diverse leadership choices.
