The super hit Hindi movie song sung by Indian cinema legend Bappi Lahiri, is being used by the Chinese to protest against food crisis as an outcome of the lockdowns.
Indian song is being loved by millions of Chinese people who are suffering the dreaded lockdowns. Now they have hit the streets turning to Hindi cinema song “Jimmy Jimmy Aaja Aaja” from 1982 movie “Disco Dancer”. They now express their anger and frustration over the country’s stringent zero-COVID policy through the Hindi number.
The Chinese version of TikTok is on the Chinese social media networks Douyin where the song is sung in Mandarin “Jie mi, jie mi”, The popular Hindi song composed by Lahiri and sung by Parvati Khan translates into “Give me rice, give me rice.”
Singing the song the people in the videos are seen mockingly showing empty vessels which reflects their situation showing during the lockdowns, how they are deprived of essential food items.
