On Day 1, Sam Bahadur had a respectable start to his box office career. On its first day of release in India, the film brought in ₹5.50 crores.

The film, which was directed by Meghna Gulzar, featured Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the key parts. Cricket players Ajit Agarkar and Zaheer Khan were present at the screening in addition to Tendulkar.

Sam Manekshaw, the first Field Marshal of India, served as the inspiration for Sam Bahadur. He served in the army for more than forty years and five wars. As the first officer in the Indian Army to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal, he made history. Eloquently referred to as ‘Sam Bahadur,’ Manekshaw guided the Indian Army to triumph in the 1971 Indo-Pak war, culminating in the formation of Bangladesh.

During his military tenure, Manekshaw was instrumental in both the 1948 liberation of Hyderabad and the 1947 Indo-Pak War.

Vicky commented on landing the movie’s main role: “Being Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw is a great honor and a great responsibility. We have put our all into bringing one of India’s greatest heroes to life on screen. I feel privileged to be involved in this incredibly motivating project.”

Vicky and Meghna Gulazar collaborated on Sam Bahadur, her second project after Raazi.
