Against Australia in the second Twenty20 International on Sunday, India amassed a mammoth 235 for four thanks to the explosive play of Yashasvi Jaiswal, the grace and power of Ruturaj Gaikwad, and the batting of Ishan Kishan.
With the help of the three outstanding half-centuries and the crucial support of Suryakumar Yadav and Rinku Singh in the final overs, India amassed a massive victory in Thiruvananthapuram. As the evening wore on, Australian captain Matthew Wade began to factor in the dew effect, but his bowlers found it difficult to contain Jaiswal (53 off 25 balls), Kishan (52 off 32 balls), and Gaikwad (58 off 43 balls).
Glenn Maxwell was taken for 15 runs by Jaiswal and Gaikwad combined during the powerplay, which produced 71 runs. Jaiswal scored his fifty runs in just twenty-four balls, but his innings was cut short when pacer Nathan Ellis unleashed a reckless blow that found Adam Zampa at backward square leg.
Yet, Gaikwad and Ishan kept adding runs to the score, therefore this setback did not stop the flow of runs in India’s innings. Ishan achieved the milestone in 29 balls after hitting a stunning six off leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha, marking his second consecutive fifty.Gaikwad achieved his fifty in 39 balls with an exquisite lofted drive above bowler Zampa’s head.

The three not only set a record in Indian T20I history with their 50+ scores, but also made history. For the first time, the top three batsmen in India’s lineup amassed more than fifty runs in the shortest format. This is actually only the fifth occasion that such a feat has been documented overall.
