High Court acquitted mafia don Brijesh Singh in Sikraura massacre

The court said that there are contradictions in the statements of the witnesses, hence they are acquitted, whereas there is sufficient evidence against four of them for their involvement in the crime, hence the order of the Sessions Court acquitting them is not legal.

The  Allahabad High Court has acquitted  Brijesh Singh  mafia don in the 37-year-old case of murder of seven people of the same family in  Village Sikraura   in Chandauli district.The court also rejected the  appeal filed against Brijesh Singh.

Earlier  the District  Court had acquitted nine accused including Brijesh Singh in this case.The High Court upheld the decision of the subordinate court and refused to punish Brijesh Singh and other accused.

Passing the above said order the division bench of Chief Justice Mr Justice  Pretinkar Diwakar and  Mr Justice Ajay Bhanot has partially accepted some of the appeals of the complainant Hiravati, and the accused and the state government.

The court has said in its decision that the four accused who were sentenced were identified by torchlight. The remaining accused could not be identified due to darkness. Apart from this, those who were punished were also identified during the parade.

It was observed  that there are contradictions in the statements of the witnesses, hence they are acquitted, whereas there is sufficient evidence against four of them for their involvement in the crime, hence the order of the Sessions Court acquitting them is not legal.

The High Court, while upholding the decision of the subordinate court in this case, has acquitted nine accused including Brijesh Singh and refused to punish them.
