Several world leaders extended heartfelt birthday wishes to PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday, hailing him as a ‘statesman and leading voice of the Global South’ and praising his leadership on the global stage.

In a video message, New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon said, “Kia ora, namaskar, my good friend Prime Minister Modi. Congratulations on your 75th birthday from me and all your friends across New Zealand.”

Luxon reflected on PM Modi’s leadership guiding India toward development by 2047. He expressed eagerness to strengthen cooperation between India and New Zealand and hoped to host PM Modi in New Zealand soon.

Guyana President Irfaan Ali praised PM Modi for championing the causes of developing nations and giving the Global South a strong voice.

Ali said, “Your leadership has transformed India’s role in the world, giving visibility and dignity to issues important for developing nations.”

He lauded India-Guyana relations, saying ties reached ‘unprecedented heights’ under PM Modi’s guidance, and wished him continued health, vigour, and long life.

Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit called PM Modi a ‘global leader, statesman, and leading voice of the Global South’.

He recalled awarding PM Modi Dominica’s highest national honour for his support during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also praised the strengthening of India-Dominica ties.

European Council President Antonio Costa expressed hope to strengthen India-EU relations.

Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, recalling his visit to Varanasi, also extended warm birthday greetings and praised PM Modi’s leadership.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar of Trinidad and Tobago praised PM Modi as a leading voice of the Global South. She thanked him for providing initiatives that benefitted her country, including laptops for students.

She highlighted India-Trinidad and Tobago ties and PM Modi’s regional contributions.

Rishi Sunak, former UK Prime Minister, called PM Modi a ‘great friend’ to him and Britain. He highlighted the growing strength of India-UK relations and recalled attending the G20 Summit in India in 2023.

Raila Odinga, former Kenyan Prime Minister, remembered meeting Prime Minister Modi during his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister. He praised Prime Minister Modi’s openness, sincerity, sense of duty, and humour, wishing him many more birthdays.
